ABOUT
Based in Montreal Canada, we work for the economic development of a modern competitive Madagascar. We also have interests in Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Ghana.
Heri Rakotomalala
Heri Rakotomalala has been key in the development of the technology startups ecosystem in Montreal. His interest is now in initiatives contributing to sustainable and economic development in Madagascar and in East Africa.
Kristina Tomaz Young
Passionate for the global playing field, Kristina has been a panelist for the CIC, offers 15+ years experience developing and directing strategic initiatives such as VC-TV.
A LONG-TERM VISION
We strive in aligning stakeholder interests with business interests by:
- Assessing what the country has compared to others, and smartly investing in areas that would bring best return on investment and growth.
- Offering a forward-looking and sophisticated development model, built for future generations, and not just short-term economic gains,
- Creating a framework for business to flourish, while striving at the same time for transparency at home and Madagascar and upholding of human rights, environmental stewardship, the health and safety of partners and communities,
- The necessity of being local to know current and community needs, "translate" local culture to project stakeholders, and leverage local strengths
WORK
We are working on the following:
- OpenIT4Africa aims to gather engineers and web/mobile developers with those with ideas, to build innovative solutions for Africa, in a mid-june event in Montreal. During a weekend, teams will be challenged to design, develop and launch an innovative solution, in agriculture, transport, commerce, health, education, energy and many other fields of their choice.
- We are also working on sustainability crowd-sourcing tool that would track environmental, social, and social impact of Canadian corporations in developing countries. It will be a crowd-sourcing tool similar to remtl, a geolocation tool of contaminated sites in Montreal, or Energy Storage which tracks Energy-related problems in the world. Data collected would be number of jobs created, greenhouse gas, water reporting, employee ranking, but also environmental problems, social unrest, amongst many other data points.
